IN HONOR OF MY DAUGHTER

WHO INSPIRED ME TO INFORM

A couple days before Taylor passed away, we discussed a similar “Project” and moving forward with it, unfortunately she was not given the opportunity to make it happen. Through her spirit and soul, we will make sure that The Taylor Strong Project will be a success and respected Brand that people are proud to be a part of. Keep paying attention, there is so much more to come and we are so excited to share her legacy with all of you. – Sarah Parkins-Pyles

Taylor Parkins

Taylor was an old soul that had a passion for people and life. She was a true “Patriotic Millennial” that was proud to love America, Veterans, and First Responders. In fact she was a First Responder in the making.

She was a game changer, the kind of girl that redefined everything you knew about the word amazing… truth. She was unstoppable, not because she never failed or had doubts, but because she continued moving forward despite them.

Little did we know, but she was writing her legacy every day. We now understand our purpose and the legacy we want to someday leave. What better thing could we have done in life but to put a really good person in the world who touched so many lives.
Taylor is our Legacy.
#tayslegacy

THE TAYLOR STRONG PROJECT

The Taylor Strong Project is designed to give back to the Veteran and First Responder Community through donation, financial assistance, and special events. But most importantly, The Taylor Strong Project’s focus is on educating the millennial generation on the history and values that America was built.

As a “non-political” project, we want the next generation (Millennials) to learn what they may not have been taught nor given the opportunity to learn.

We support the Veteran First Responder community, teaching respect for those that protect our people and our freedoms. We were surprised to learn that there was hardly anything like this out there for our Patriotic Youth, and want this generation to understand it’s okay to love America and the traditions and history that formed the greatest country in the world.

😲Wow! Look what WW2 Armor is working on! Hopefully this will be ready by D Day Conneaut!
Dont forget to give these guys a like, they have lots of great information on all their vehicles! Now view this!

What do the three attached pictures have in common? They will become one as we continue to restore the replica WWII German Tiger I (Panzer VI) tank from the movie "Saving Private Ryan" and the series "Band of Brothers."

The first picture is as our replica Tiger I appeared in Saving Private Ryan. The second picture is as it appears after we removed the faded and failing external shell. The third picture is the donor CW34 recovery vehicle.

The replica Tiger I began life as a WWII Soviet T-34-85 tank. Ironically it likely fired on Tiger tanks during WWII. It was heavily modified for its role as a Tiger I tank in Saving Private Ryan, and that or subsequent modifications compromised its structural integrity. We are now repairing that damage as well as bringing it back to its movie star status. Yet we're taking it further than that - we have ideas on how to change the road wheel configuration, as well as building out internals to include a turret basket and additional safety features (the WWII T-34 tanks didn't have a turret basket; the loader stood on the ammo).

Why not restore it as a T-34-85? First, that's not our focus. We're focused on U.S. armor in the ETO, and the opposition it faced. Second, the replica Tiger I, along with our replica Panzer III and replica StuG III, permit us to teach a more enumerative history of WWII and U.S. armor in the ETO. Third, the damage rendered to this T-34-85 is such that restoration back to a fully operational T-34 configuration is nigh impossible; by "impossible," we of course mean "prohibitively expensive in time, material, and money." Fourth, the rabbi made a commitment to the prior owner, who has since passed on, to restore it to its movie star status, and the rabbi never breaks a commitment.

The donor vehicle you see is a post-WWII CW34 recovery vehicle. It has the internal components we need to make the replica Tiger I a great runner.

We will build a new turret, relocating it to be more appropriate to the Tiger I. We will add a long-lasting, durable, strong outer skin to give it the Tiger I look and feel. We will add modern comms and fire suppression. We have a 75mm gun built and fabricated to look like the 8.8cm (88mm) KwK 36 L/56 main gun, but we're setting that aside. While obtaining or fabricating 88mm shell casings is Mission Improbable, we have another idea of a main gun that will rock the world of all who see it fire. Please stay tuned on that. 🙂

That is all.

One hundred years ago the Great War ends. It was thought to be the war to end all wars, but even as the armistice was set in place, a young German corporal would, like so many others, believe that the German Army had been stabbed in the back, particularly by German Jews. In the chaos in Germany after the war he would be lured into a fledgling political party in a musty beer hall and begin his quest to return Germany to greatness, and purge it of undesirables, including the Jews. The Russian Empire was gone, replaced by the new Soviet Regime. Japan is bitter about not being treated as an equal Ally, and seeks her own imperial ambitions. Great Britian and France lay shattered and desperately cling to their Empires. The United States enjoys an economic boom but dark clouds lay on the horizon. As one Great War ended the seeds were sown for an even deadlier conflict to come. ... See MoreSee Less

"Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?"

Having left Duluth on the 9th, the Edmund Fitzgerald began the journey across Lake Superior headed for Detroit. Shortly after leaving they came up behind the Arthur Anderson and continued their way across the lake. The weather quickly turned and both ships were caught in a massive storm. Both captians were in contact with each other via radio. The last transmission from the Fitzgerald was "we are holding our own". Around 7:10 PM on November 10th 1975, the Edmund Fitzgerald suddenly sank, taking all 29 crew members with her. Many theories center around the cause of her sinking with the most common being they bottomed out causing the Fitzgerald to snap in half from the 35 ft waves. The wreck is one of the most well known maritime disasters thanks to Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot lyrics Please like and subscribe for more lyrics! Not only was Spokane Police Captain Tracie Meidl, named National Officer of The Month for October 2018, but also has a part in this awesome new book that we cannot wait to read! Keep up the awesome work Captain Meidl!

#celebratewomeninblue
#spokanesfinest
Craig MeidlOver the next few weeks, you will meet the amazing wives who were a part of this beautiful book. When I started recruiting authors for this book, I had no idea who would answer the call. I just knew, deep in my soul, that there were police wives, just like me, who have sat quietly for too long.

There was quite a bit of interest in the early days of recruiting authors. However, like so many things in life, many were interested but few turned their interest into action.

Many months ago when I met & spoke with Tracie Meidl on the phone, I knew she would be a part of this book. She didn't know it because her hectic schedule did not permit her to be a co-author, but I knew for sure that somehow she would be a part of this project! I waited for all the dots that had been formed to create this book to connect. Early last month, an idea fell into my spirit. I called Tracie and...

Well...

I am so happy (and honored) that Captain Tracie Meidl agreed to write the Foreword for this book. To our surprise, Captain Tracie Meidl was named October's Law Enforcement Officer of the Month by the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Fund!!!! She will be honored in Washington, D.C.!!!!!!

Tracie, thank you for your 25 years of service. Thank you for being willing to allow God to use you to touch so many more lives through this book. You are indeed an example of what love, hope, courage & legacy looks like behind the blue line.

Congratulations on your award!

Ever wonder why we vote on the first Tuesday in November?

In 1845, before Florida, California, and Texas were states, or slavery had been abolished, Congress needed to pick a time for Americans to vote. We were an agrarian society. We traveled by horse and buggy. Farmers needed a day to get to the county seat, a day to vote, and a day to get back, without interfering with the three days of worship. So that left Tuesday and Wednesday, but Wednesday was market day. So, Tuesday it was!! The month of November fit nicely between harvest time and brutal winter weather–which can be especially bad when you’re trudging along by horse and buggy.

MUSIC MONDAY!

FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS - METALLICA 1984

The song was inspired by Ernest Hemingway's 1940 novel of the same name about the dishonor of modern warfare and the protagonist's imminent doom during the bloody Spanish Civil War. Specific allusions are made to the scene in which five soldiers are obliterated during an airstrike, after taking a position on a hill.

For Whom The Bell Tolls

Make his fight on the hill in the early day
Constant chill deep inside
Shouting gun, on they run through the endless grey
On the fight, for they are right, yes, by who's to say?
For a hill men would kill, why? They do not know
Stiffened wounds test there their pride
Men of five, still alive through the raging glow
Gone insane from the pain that they surely know
For whom the bell tolls
Time marches on
For whom the bell tolls
Take a look to the sky just before you die
It is the last time you will
Blackened roar massive roar fills the crumbling sky
Shattered goal fills his soul with a ruthless cry
Stranger now, are his eyes, to this mystery
He hears the silence so loud
Crack of dawn, all is gone except the will to be
Now they see what will be, blinded eyes to see
For whom the bell tolls
Time marches on
For whom the bell tollsProvided to YouTube by Audiam (Label) For Whom The Bell Tolls · Metallica Ride The Lightning ℗ Blackened Recordings Released on: 1984-07-27 Auto-generated by...

I DONUT need a reason to THANK a cop, Inc.
From Tyler’s mom:

11 years ago we were blessed with our third precious miracle! Our chunky little monkey! You have brought such joy to all of our lives and we are so proud of the little man you have become!

This birthday makes number three in a row that your bday request has been to spend it thanking Police. Serving Atlanta PD 1000s of donuts and cake for your 9th, traveling to ten states in ten days and serving donuts and cake at ten events for Officers for your tenth and now spending your 11th thanking the Chicago Police Department and then also hosting a “reverse bday” back home for Officers later this week.

You are the most selfless and kind little guy I know and I couldn’t be more proud. Happy bday baby...I hope it’s the best yet.

Veteran, Bobby Dove will be joining Ron Bellan, host of Reaper Outdoors, TONIGHT, Nov 5th, on the Pursuit Channel "We Deliver The Outdoors" at 9:00 PM Eastern for the first half of the Turkey Slam they completed last Spring.

Many of you who have followed TSP have heard us talk about Bobby Dove and his inspirational journey. Bobby is a Special Forces Army Veteran who lost both his right hand and right leg from an IED while deployed Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Bobby has proven time and again to NEVER GIVE UP. Bobby is an amazing father, husband and business owner of Hooligan Charters in Florida. He and Ron Bellan are also the face of SOWW (Special Operations Wounded Warrior) - another great charity.

Ron Bellan AKA: Reaper 01 is def not a stranger to the TSP family. Master Chief Navy Seal Ron Bellan, has been a top supporter and friend of TSP. In the days before her passing, Taylor got to meet Reaper and have a fun day of shooting in Montana for one of the events. She had a blast and talked about it often in her last days.

We just cant say enough great things about our new friend: Tyler The Donut Boy!!

let’s celebrate this awesome kid and Lets tell the world about his patriotism!

Tyler is an amazing almost 11 year old boy who loves cops. He developed a program called "I DONUT need a reason to thank a cop" in August 2016 after meeting 4 local officers in a store and asking if he could buy them donuts with his own money. They were so excited that Tyler asked if he could buy donuts for every cop in America and tell them thank you. He says cops are his best friends and he hopes to be a cop someday too. In a time when our world needs love more than ever, Tyler saw a need for love and encouragement and he took action. In an effort to reach even more officers, he started a Flat Tyler campaign and he also wrote a song for Police. Tyler says "I want to inspire others to like cops and maybe to want to be cops and also to love others." I am so proud of the driven, kind hearted and humble child that Tyler is. Tyler has spent lots of time completing chores and scrapping metal to raise money for donuts and supplies and also had donut shops donate donuts for several events.

In the past 27 months, Tyler has visited 41 states and distributed over 75,000 donuts to Officers! He has been featured on the Steve Harvey Show, 60 second docs, all major news outlets and also on a Roman Atwood Project for YouTube Red. He was a guest speaker at National Police Week in Washington DC and he was also awarded the George Washington Honor Medal and the Social Justice National Youth Activist Award. Tyler is very dedicated to his mission and I am confident that he will complete this mission to thank every single Law Enforcement Officer in America!

AND FOR OUR SPOKANE FRIENDS - DONUT BOY WAS HERE IN AUGUST OF 2018 FOR A VISIT.

"The Mighty Mac" is celebrating it's 61st birthday today and is one of the "mightiest" bridges in America. Located in Michigan, it is the 5th longest suspension bridge in the world with a length of over 26,000 feet. The Mighty Mac opened to traffic on November 1, 1957.

In newspaper, the Lansing Republican, dated February 5, 1884, reprinted a story from the Grand Traverse Herald pointing out that the experiment to provide all-year service across the Straits by boat had failed, and that if a great east-west route were ever to be established through Michigan a bridge or tunnel would be required. Due to the recent success and dedication of the Brooklyn Bridge in 1883, Mackinac Bridge backers were hopeful and encouraged for the same success, however many of these supporters would never see completion of this mighty structure. The project did not begin until May of 1954 and took over 3 years to complete.

On screen, the bridge has been featured on “Modern Marvels” on the History Channel and Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs, ” but has yet to make a significant feature film debut. However, HistoricBridges.org identifies the “Mighty Mac” as Michigan’s most recognized landmark after the Great Lakes themselves, thus it constitutes the most distinctive man-made structure.
